What you think about, you get

Are you happy with where your life is? Are you doing what you want? Do you have what you want?

If you aren’t 100% happy with were you are in your life and in your business, your thoughts may be to blame.

I’ve been participating in T. Harv Eker’s 7 Day No Complaining Challenge. You can check it out on his Facebook page. One thing that is being taught is that our thoughts = our results.

Your thoughts equal your results

Harv is a master at mindset. And one thing I have learned is that I complain more INSIDE my head than I do outwardly.

I was a bit horrified at this knowledge, yet, it’s great to know. See, awareness is the first step to making a change. And since there were things I wanted to change in both my life and in my business, this was a great first step for me. I also (as of the writing of this blog) am in the middle of an experience that I’d rather not experience.

I’m not trying to be cryptic, I’m just not ready to share it with the world. I will, just not yet. So focusing on where my thoughts are has been key in helping me turn an experience that could potential stop me in my tracks into one where I can look for something more pleasing to me. And for me, that equals a better result.

What results do you want to have in your life?

What about you? Where or what in your life (and/or business) do you want to have better results? Go ahead and write them down. Then, take a moment to think about your thoughts.

When you look at what you are thinking about, are you positive about it or are you negative about it? If you notice you are more negative 1) this is great awareness and 2) now you can change how you think. This will help you move toward creating those results that you want faster.

How to change your thoughts

Yes, you can change your thoughts! And guess what? It’s easy! Here are the steps:

  • Notice your default thought pattern – what do you tell yourself when something doesn’t go your way? This creates the awareness.
  • Determine another way to think about it – how can I change this thought? This creates the new thought pattern.
  • Say OUT LOUD your new way of thinking about what is going on. This reinforces the new thought pattern.
  • Write it down. This creates an even stronger pathway from brain to body.
  • Repeat as often as necessary.

Once you get into this habit, you’ll soon notice your thoughts changing. They won’t be so negative and you’ll (here’s the beauty) start to notice you are thinking more positive more often than not!

Pretty cool, eh?!

Why it matters?

Well, it matters because your life and your happiness depends on YOU. It depends on your ability to make it exactly what you want it to be. You are the only person that is in control of your life and don’t you want it to be a great life? Don’t you want your life to be full of what you want? I bet you do!

You matter. You are unique and special and you have unique needs and wants and there is no reason for you to not have what you want!

I’d love to hear about what happens for you when you begin to think thoughts that help you get what you want. Either comment here or feel free to email me personally at kim@kimravida.com!

Behind the scenes of business success

ixgpcausaom-remy-baudouinHow to create your business success

I was reading Daymond John’s book  The Power of Broke where he tells readers “Remember, you are the brand.” It’s a very powerful reminder. One that many business owners forget. And if Daymond John is saying it you know it’s something to listen to since he’s all about business success.

If you are a fan of Shark Tank, you know that many times the Sharks invest in the person. I know I’ve watched and thought “wow, I can’t believe they invested in that.” What the Shark was doing was investing in the person. One of the best things you can do for your business success it to own your brand. Your brand is so much more than a logo and colors.

Your brand is so much more than your logo

Your brand is a combination of elements that all add up to your brand is the PROMISE of an EXPERIENCE.

Your brand is an opportunity for you to create:

  • Meaningful, thought-provoking connections with your customers and clients
  • Focus, intention and energy for you in building your business

Ways you can create an amazing brand for business success

There is so much more to your brand than a logo and a tagline or something snazzy. Yes, those are parts of your brand and they all lead to brand awareness, you however, want to create that meaningful, thought-provoking connection with your customers and clients so that they will be loyal to you for a long, long time.

In order for you to do that in such a way that it leads to your business success answer each of the following questions:

  • What is my Unique Brilliance?
  • What am I a Stand for in my business?
  • What am I an Expert at?
  • What is my Brand Promise?
  • What are my Brand Values?
  • What is my Brand Client Experience?
  • What is the Personality of my Brand?

If you would like to learn more about your Unique Brilliance click here.  In upcoming blogs, we’ll discuss in depth each of the above-mentioned questions but for now, go ahead and answer the questions for yourself, it’s a great start. I know you are interested in creating an amazing brand so give yourself at least 30 minutes to answer the questions.

Keys to Improving Your Brand

As you answer the questions, keep in mind the brand you have (if you have a brand at this moment) and whether or not it is the brand you want to have in the future. If it is, great, how can you improve upon it? If it isn’t what do you want your brand to convey? What do you want it to say about you? What do you want your customer’s/client’s experience to be?

Now is a great time to look to the future and the experiences your customers and clients get and will get from doing business with you.

Once you answer the above questions, shoot me an email at kim@kimravida.com and tell me what you discovered, what you are excited about and how will knowing what you now know lead you to your business success!

How to make progress toward your goals

www.kimravida.com (2)The number one thing that you as a business owner needs to do in order to reach your goals is to know exactly where you are going.

Toward or Away?

Are you moving toward your goals or away from them? You may be saying “well, of course I’m moving toward them.” AND how do you know?

You move toward your goals when you are actively heading in the direction of your goal. Let’s take make money. If you are actively going out and signing on clients or selling your products and services and have actual money coming in then you are moving toward your goal of making money.

Let’s say though you are saying to yourself “I don’t want to be poor” or “I don’t want to not be able to pay my bills this month” then you are moving away from your goal.

What’s The Difference.

You may be thinking “ya but, if I am motivated by not being able to pay my bills, I’ll go out and get the clients I need so that I don’t find myself in that position.” And I can see why you would think that. However, the problem with moving away is that at some point you get far enough away from that feeling of what you don’t want that your motivation stops and you end up creating that same thing that you didn’t want.

Yes, it does create an initial case of being motivated because you don’t want that but when the motivation disappears what happens is the exact thing you didn’t want.

And so then, if you are moving toward what you do want such as plenty of money to easily pay your bills and then some, you realize that you can do more and you set higher goals. So instead of just having plenty of money to easily pay your bills, you will want money to perhaps give your favorite clients gifts or even give a gift to yourself or something of the like.

Move away from creates inconsistent results.  Move toward creates consistent results and then some.

Remember though, saying “plenty of money” is not enough to be able to reach your goal, as you’ll learn below you want to be specific as in a dollar amount of what it is you want.

How To Set Goals That Make It Easy to Move Toward.

Lay out your goal(s) and determine what will move you forward stated in the positive.  Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is my goal simple and specific?
  • Is is meaningful to me?  In other words, what is in it for you?
  • Is it achievable? How will other areas of my life be impacted?
  • Is it realistic and responsible and good for all?
  • Is it timed toward what I want? Put a date on when the goal will be completed.

There is ONE piece that will have you move toward reaching and accomplishing your goal consistently and that is As If Now. As if you already have the goal.

Let’s say you want your goal to be as of December 31, 2016, you will write your goal As If Now: It is December 31, 2016 and I am now making $10,000 per month every month.

By doing so you move out of (or let’s say away from) wishing versus desiring.  Wishing is saying “that would be nice if that happened someday.” Desiring is creating a connection between your wanting and taking the action to get it.

What will it be for you? Are you ready to move toward? Go ahead and share your thoughts on my below or pop over to my Facebook page and share with me what it is you are moving toward. Feel free to state your goal as As If Now and what your first action step is that you will take to get you closer to your goal!

What successful people do: They keep going

11-15-16 used for Tuesday ThoughtThought for the day.

So often we hit a snag or a snafu and we give up.  We say that we’ll do it later but then later never comes.  We then say we don’t have the time to do it later and we can’t do it because of this or because of that.

Eliminate the excuses and do what the clock does and keep going!

You’ll be amazed at the results you get, the increase in energy and the feelings of accomplishment!

Who is with me and the clock?  If you are, please share and let’s create some success for ourselves and the world!

Did you know you had your own unique brilliance?

3You already have what it takes to succeed.

Your Unique Brilliance is something that is all and totally you! It is you at your best no matter what you are doing and no matter who you are with. Business owners who are in tune with theirs will have more success for themselves.

Your Unique Brilliance shows up when you are in the flow. When you are connecting with your true self. When you are open and everything flows into and through you.

Using your Unique Brilliance.

As a business owner using your Unique Brilliance is what will help you reach your goals faster and with less stress and frustration. When you are in your brilliance, everything feels easier, you have insights and experiences that serve you and you see quicker and more amazing results.

Maybe you are thinking that you aren’t too sure about what your Unique Brilliance is, well it is your essence and probably something you take for granted or even might not see. If that is the case, you won’t be able to use it to excel in your life and in your business.

Think of a time when you were at your best, things were flowing, you were in the groove, and feeling amazing. Do you have that time in mind?

  • Where were you?
  • What were you doing?
  • What were some feelings you had?
  • What were some thoughts you had?
  • What were some things you loved to do as a kid?

Jot all of that down. Now what are some words and qualities that describe what you wrote down? What do they mean for or meant for you?

Unique Brilliance in action.

An example of Unique Brilliance is:  I inspire possibility.

It’s mine. I loved to teach as a child, I loved to help others, I loved to listen and to brainstorm. I loved to help others see what was possible for them, to look at things in a different way, to see the other side of the coin/story/situation and to this day I still do. I believe it is what makes me a great coach.

I have always inspired possibility but it wasn’t until I learned of my Unique Brilliance that I was able to truly step into myself and own what I knew deep down inside that I was great at. Once you see what your Unique Brilliance is you will too.

What’s next.

Once you answer the above, create your own Unique Brilliance Statement by starting with the word “I” and then use a verb such as spark, ignite, shape, or any verb that fits you. A few more examples from my clients are:

  • I spark greatness
  • I empower action
  • I achieve decisiveness
  • I listen openly
  • I build empires
  • I accomplish fabulousness

What you want is a true “I” statement and one when you hit it you will own it! It will feel so totally you that you’ll be bursting with excitement and have a smile a mile wide on your face.

It’s your turn, what is your Unique Brilliance? Go ahead and figure it out and then share it with me on my Facebook page so that you can also share it with the world. And if you aren’t ready just yet to openly share and would like to keep it private for now, email it to me at kim@kimravida.com where it will be kept safe with me until you are ready to share it with the world!

How to propel yourself forward toward success

Secret to Success

Well, truly, it’s not a secret. It’s being talked about all over the place. It’s called your psychology. Also known as your mindset.

It is the one thing that can propel you to success.

As a business owner your success is paramount.

How to know if your mindset is sabotaging your efforts for success

There are many ways we harm our opportunities for success.  Several ways in which you may be taking yourself out from the success track are:

  • Are you using words such as “you are such an idiot, I can’t believe you did that, you are so stupid” in your self talk?
  • Do you often find yourself thinking about a situation hours or even days after it happened wishing you did or said something different than what you said?
  • Have you found yourself in the same situation over and over again, wondering what happened to get you here again?

If you said yes to any of those, you are in a negative mindset – therefore, your psychology is not one that will support you, it will actually destroy you.

Simple ways to boost your psychology for success

One of the reasons you may be more negatively focused is your upbringing. While we can’t go back to the past, you most certainly can change your present and your future.

  • Pay attention to your self talk.  Are you constantly berating yourself? Are you calling yourself derogatory names? There was a great article in Psychology Today that laid out the reasons why it’s easy to be negative. Once you are aware of your pattern it is easy to learn to turn it around.
  • Change your self talk.  If you do notice that you are not so nice to yourself, when you find that you are doing it, stop, and choose something nice to say about yourself.
  • Repetition is key.  In order to begin to change your pattern, you must be on guard and be at the ready when the negative self talk shows up so that you can change how you speak to yourself.

At first, it’s challenging, you may not even be aware of it.  Once you notice what you are doing, your pattern for your negative self talk, and implement your new habit of speaking kind and supportive to yourself, it gets easier!

Your assignment is to 1) pay attention to your self talk and notice if you are being negative and mean to yourself; 2) come up with several turn around phrases that you can tell yourself to start and shift from negative to positive; and 3) make it a habit.

That’s it! You will now be on the road to speedier successes and happiness!

It’s all in the way of your attitude

Got Attitude?

Mindset QuoteHave you said about someone else that you didn’t like their attitude or that they had an “attitude”?

Or, what about when you were growing up?  There were times when I heard “I don’t approve of your attitude” or “You better change your attitude, young lady”. What about you? And did you even know what ‘attitude’ meant?

Back then for me it meant I better behave in a way that made someone else happy or else I might be punished. Interesting, eh?

Attitude defined

When I looked up the meaning of attitude, the dictionary told me:

Personal view of something:
an opinion or general feeling about something

Challenging Manner:
an arrogant or assertive manner or stance assumed as a challenge or for effect

The other thing I discovered was that attitude also means mindset! AH, exactly what I was looking for. See, your mindset will determine your outcomes. In business, your mindset has everything to do with your success (or failure). Your mindset (attitude) will either propel you forward or hold you back.

How to use your mindset/attitude for success

Think about your business right now. Is it everything you want it to be?
Are there things you have wanted to do, yet have not done? Why not? What are you thinking? What are you feeling? What are you afraid of?

Here are few questions for you to use to shift your mindset/attitude:

  • What is the outcome I want to experience?
  • What is one action I can take to get started?
  • What is the worst that can happen?

Start with those and if you’d like more questions and tips download my free e-book. You’ll also get additional steps to creating a successful business that is profitable! The e-book has a companion workbook for you as well that will help you create the business success you know that you can have!

Just What The Heck Are You Waiting For?

Recently I was on a group training call and my coach (I work with her privately too) said to me something that was sweet to my ears.  She said: “Kim, you always show up.” I was the only one who did. Because I showed up, I was able to have additional coaching as if it were a private 1/1 session. I walked away with new knowledge and a plan about how I can take my business to a new level that I wouldn’t have gotten had I not shown up.

Question mark

Why was I so happy to hear her say that? Well…I never used to show up! I used to be that person who would say I wanted to do something then not do it, I’d sign up for programs and classes and either not show up (hey, I was busy) or show up but not do the work (I was busy, remember)! I hate to admit it but it is true. I let myself down all the time.

I’d say I wanted to do x, y and z and then I wouldn’t do it. I’d let other things get in my way, other people, other priorities (other people’s priorities), you name it, I did it.

One day though it hit me (think 2×4 across the head — ouch), I was only letting myself down and that was no longer ok with me. It definitely had something to do with the dwindling bank account and wondering how I was going to pay my bills for my business and live my life but it also had something to do with seeing other people be successful in business.

I stopped and asked myself what they were doing differently than I – lots of things I know, but one thing that I kept seeing is that they weren’t waiting for anything, they just kept showing up and so I decided that’s what I’d do.

To this day, I’m constantly in awe of the way people let themselves down. Let’s take business. Are you someone who signed up for things, a program, a coach, a class yet don’t get the results you want?

If you said yes, ask yourself if you are showing up and by showing up I don’t mean to the class/call, etc. I mean fully, participating, doing the homework, the next actions, asking questions.

And if you aren’t, keep in mind that when you don’t show up you simply cannot get the results you want.

As someone wanting to be successful in your business, tell me:

  • Why would you let other things constantly get in your way if you are serious about getting results?
  • Why if you sign up for a program that would help you and that you paid for, wouldn’t you make it a top priority to show up?
  • Why would you sabotage yourself that way?

The funky thing is that when people do this they complain or are pissed off that they aren’t getting (or didn’t get) the results they wanted and will blame others. Come on, if you don’t want to show up for whatever reason, that’s on you. I show up because I’m all about being at the cause of change and my success (and because one 2×4 across the head was enough for me to get it).

What will it take for you to get it?

I’d love to hear your comments on this, pop over to my Facebook page and answer me this: what the heck are you waiting for?

Feel free to share as much or as little as you’d like! And if you want to share privately, I’d love that too. Email me at kim@kimravida.com

Let’s see if we can’t meet in the middle.

There is a syndrome going on out there among a lot of business women. It’s called the I have to get it all done and if I can’t then I might as not even try syndrome.

It plagues so many women. So instead of just getting a few things accomplished or moved forward, they wait and wait until they have all the time in the world to get the whole project complete. And of course we all know that that isn’t going to happen any time soon. So why bother anyway?

Quote - Kim Ravida

So what if we could meet in the middle? What I mean is what if we could look at what we had to accomplish and set aside time regularly to move the project forward a little bit each day? The trick is to actually set the time aside for doing what you want to do.

I remember when I first started to implement this concept. Yes, I used to have the all or nothing mindset and feel that I never got anything accomplished, well, how could I if I never started things in the first place?

If you find that you are in an all or nothing mindset, what if you were to take one thing at a time, determine what actions steps you need to take in order to get your project complete and then schedule the time into your calendar and actually do the work when the time comes?

Would you say that you would find yourself accomplishing a lot more and feeling really good about yourself? I bet you would!

But don’t take my word for it, go for it yourself and then let me know! Feel free to comment here or email me privately at kim@kimravida.com.

Sometimes you just have to take the chance

In this great big wonderful world of ours there is so much we can put our attention on.

We can take classes, work with mentors, read do-it-yourself books. We can follow influential people that inspire us but sometimes you just have to take a leap. That’s a leap of faith in yourself.

Quote - Holly Holm

I am an avid sports fan. I have my favorites but one thing that is true in any sport is mental preparation. Also know as mindset. Recently I heard Holly Holm, who is an MMA fighter say that “The mental part is the hardest part. Take the chance, believe in yourself. If you don’t take the opportunities that come to you how do you expect to get somewhere? It’s hard to put yourself out there sometimes.  It’s uncomfortable sometimes but I really just like to take the chance and believe in myself.”

I work with and know so many strong women who won’t put themselves out there because they are afraid. I won’t list all of the reasons but some are fear of failure, fear of success, fear of what others may say, fear of not being good enough.

And guess what? Yes, those may be true and they may not be true but how will you ever know if you don’t just take the chance?

I know from my own experiences that when I do put myself out there the results are amazing and I also know from my clients’ experiences as well as my friends’ experiences that they have experienced the same amazing and oftentimes unbelievable results just because they did take the chance.

Now it’s your turn. When have you taken the chance and discovered the yellow brick road was so much more than you even imagined? Comment here or feel free to write to me privately at kim@kimravida.com I’m so looking forward to reading what you have to say!
