Marketing your business doesn’t have to feel like a full-time job
If marketing your business feels like a constant guessing game—posting here and there, trying different things but never really knowing what’s working—you’re not alone. So many women business owners tell me they want to market consistently, but they’re overwhelmed, unsure what to focus on, or just plain tired of trying to do it all. That’s why I’m creating something special for May—a hands-on experience to help you finally get clear, confident, and consistent in your marketing… without the stress.
Does this sound like you? “I know I need to market my business, but I’m tired of trying to keep up with trends. I just want a way to do this that feels natural and works.”
And I get it. Boy do I get it. And I’d like to remind you that marketing doesn’t have to be so hard.
There’s so much pressure to be everywhere, all the time—posting, commenting, emailing, networking… It’s exhausting. And if you’ve been feeling like marketing your business has turned into a full-time job, let’s press pause for a second.
I know I certainly have been there. Not once but twice! Yes twice. You think I would have learned the first time but I fell for it again. I turned myself into a full time marketer.
BUT here’s the truth: Marketing doesn’t have to be complicated. And it doesn’t have to be a full time job. In fact, it can be simple, sustainable, and (dare I say it?) even enjoyable.
The Key? Less Hustle, More Focus.
I was working with a client recently—we’ll call her Sarah. She’s a brilliant business coach in her 50s, passionate about what she does, and incredible at helping her clients. But when it came to marketing? She felt completely stuck.
Her exact words: “I know I need to market, but I feel like I’m just throwing things out there with no real plan. Some weeks I post a lot, other times I disappear. I don’t want to be everywhere, I just want to market in a way that actually works.”
After talking it through, we simplified everything. Instead of trying to juggle multiple platforms and endless content ideas, we focused on one core strategy that felt right for her. And here is what she choose:
✅ She picked LinkedIn as her main marketing channel. No more trying to post on Instagram, Facebook, and email all at once—just one place where her ideal clients actually engage.
✅ She committed to 3 simple posts a week. One personal story, one client success highlight, and one teaching moment. No overthinking, just consistency.
✅ She started networking with intention. Instead of hoping people would magically find her, she set a goal to connect with 3 potential clients or collaborators each week—commenting, sending thoughtful messages, and building relationships.
Within a few weeks, she was seeing results. Her audience started responding. Past connections re-engaged. A previous client reached out, ready to book her again. And the best part? She wasn’t stressed anymore because her marketing finally felt doable.
How this relates to you:
Instead of trying to do all the things, focus on what actually moves the needle. Here’s some ideas (and you know you can start with just one and then add as you go, see simple):
✅ Pick ONE primary marketing channel. Are your best clients on LinkedIn? Great. Focus there. Do they love hearing from you via email? Make that your thing. The key is choosing a platform that fits you and your audience instead of trying to do it all.
✅ Use the 3-2-1 Method:
- 3 posts/emails per week (share value, insights, or client success stories)
- 2 relationship-building actions (DMs, comments, or outreach)
- 1 visibility activity (publish an article, be a contributor on LinkedIn, a podcast guest spot, a live Q&A, a collaboration)
✅ Batch & Repurpose Content. Create once, use multiple times. A single blog post can turn into three LinkedIn posts, an email, and a talking point for a networking event. Marketing should work for you, not the other way around.
✅ Leverage What Already Works.
Do you get most of your clients from referrals? Double down on building those relationships.
REMEMBER: Not every strategy is for everyone—and that’s okay.
Marketing That Fits Your Life
The best marketing plan isn’t the one with the most tactics. It’s the one you’ll actually stick with.
So if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, I challenge you to simplify. Choose one small shift—whether that’s narrowing down your marketing focus, setting a simple content schedule, or spending more time in conversations that lead to real opportunities.
Small, consistent steps will get you further than trying to do everything at once. Remember, marketing doesn’t have to be so hard.
