If you’re a one-woman show building a business that supports your life — not the other way around — this is your moment to pause and look ahead.
You don’t need a big team, an investor, or a corporate org chart to think strategically. What you do need is clarity, structure, and the confidence to lead yourself like the CEO you already are.
That’s where traction comes in.
“Vision without execution is hallucination.” – Thomas Edison
Why Traction Matters for Solopreneurs
In larger businesses, the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework helps teams build structure, accountability, and results. But solopreneurs often skip this kind of planning — not because they don’t care, but because they’re too busy doing the work.
Here’s the truth: If you’re a solopreneur, you are the team. Did you just sigh when you read that? It is exhausting to be a team of one. There are a lot of things you need to juggle, handle and take care of. Sometimes all at once. And this means you need a simplified system that keeps you focused, grounded, and in motion — without burning you out.
I loved reading the book Traction. And recommend it to my business owners who have a team. It makes so much sense, is practical to implement and makes all the difference in the world to a business that has a team. However, what about us solopreneurs. Those who like doing all of the work and want a business that is only us?
So I took what I learned from the book and what already know and teach on and crafted a system for us. Over the next few posts, I’m going to share it all with you. I’ll walk you through a solopreneur-friendly framework — so you can build real traction in your business as you plan for the future..
The Aligned Solopreneur Framework
For as long as I have been a Business Coach, I’ve followed a framework. It has evolved over time and currently it has five parts to it. You can call them pillars, foundations, or guideposts. But whatever you call them, know that they will be your guiding light so that you are able to do all you want without feeling as if you are drowning. Nice, eh?
Think of this as your roadmap to running your business with clarity and control. Each part builds on the last — and by the end, you’ll have a plan that actually works in real life (not just on paper).
1. Vision & Planning — Set Your Course for the next year and beyond
You can’t grow what you haven’t clearly defined. Your vision is your north star — the picture of what success looks and feels like into the future. It’s not about lofty dreams; it’s about clear direction.
Ask yourself:
- What does my business look like by the end of next year, in three years and in 10 years?
- What kind of clients am I serving?
- What am I known for?
- What does success feel like day-to-day?
Your next step is turning that vision into a concrete plan — one-year goals, 90-day milestones, and simple weekly actions.
Stay tuned for an upcoming blog with specifics on just how to create a clear vision and plan for your business.
2. Execution & Tactics — Turn Your Ideas Into Action
This is where most solopreneurs get stuck — in the gap between knowing and doing. Once you plan and prepare, execution means breaking your big goals down into actionable steps you can take consistently.
Focus on the next 90 days:
- What’s one big goal that would move you closer to your vision?
- What are the weekly and daily actions to get there?
- When will you carve out CEO Time to make it happen?
Small, focused action beats scattered busyness every time.
In an upcoming blog, we’ll delve into how to turn your big goals into actionable steps.
3. Track What Matters — Measure Results Like a Pro
Now I know this is probably going to be your least favorite step but numbers don’t lie, and they don’t have to be scary. Tracking gives you clarity — not just on your financials, but on what’s actually moving your business forward.
Start by tracking three key areas:
- Money: Revenue, expenses, profit.
- Marketing: Leads, conversion rates, and engagement.
- Momentum: Consistency in actions (how often you’re showing up and following through).
Once you track, you can tweak. Tracking is by far a key pillar for your success. I’ve said it to my clients, if you aren’t tracking, you might as well open the window and throw your money out of it – because with out knowing your info, you are out there just blowing in the wind. And you don’t want that, I know you don’t.
Don’t worry, you’ll learn how you can track and measure for what will benefit you and your business.
4. Review & Adjust — Reflect and Refocus
So in this part, you actually get to take a birds eye view of all the work you have put in. You get to actually see your results. Yes, it can be both exciting and scary (I mean, what if you see you aren’t where you thought you were?) Every quarter, review your progress. Ask: What worked? What didn’t? What do I need to do differently?
This step is where improvement happens — but most solopreneurs skip it because they’re busy chasing the next thing. Don’t. Your best insights live here.
You will know how to review & adjust and just what to do with that information – both good and bad. By the way, the bad isn’t bad at all, it just means time to look at something differently, do something differently or in fact, let it go.
5. Consistency & Confidence — Lead Yourself Like a CEO
Consistency builds confidence, and confidence builds results.
When you start following through on your own commitments, you create trust with yourself — and that’s what makes everything else work.
Leading yourself like a CEO doesn’t mean working 24/7. It means operating from strategy instead of reaction, clarity instead of chaos.
This part is fun. By doing you gain confidence, you’ll learn how to lead your business CEO style. You are more than the chief everything officer, you truly are the Chief Executive Officer of your business, so here you’ll full step into it.
